Transactions Cleared on an Immediate Basis
(TCIB) Payment Stream
Since The SADC-RTGS payment went live in 2013 with High Value Payments, there have been additional opportunities in SADC (and impacts as a result):
- An opportunity to increase financial inclusion
- An opportunity to decrease the costs of cross-border remittances.
The TCIB Payment Steam facilitates these low value cross-border payments (originating from e-wallets, bank accounts or cash-in) to either a mobile or bank account or cash pay-out.
Payments are cleared through the appointed Regional Clearing Settlement Operator, BankservAfrica with final ZAR settlementtaking place in the SADC-RTGS payment platform. Non-ZAR currencies are settled via Correspondent Banking arrangements. Participants include Banks and Non-banks.
